How Jola Helped?
A Jola partner worked with a government body and local housing association to provide connected personal devices for vulnerable adults. The tablets allowed users to make video calls, set medication reminders, and browse the internet safely. SIM cards were required for 1200 devices initially, with further scope for an additional 900 units.
What were the Challenges?
Reliable connectivity is necessary so devices can be accessed 24/7.
Connectivity had to be cost effective as the local authority has tight budget constraints. The local authority had to provide a level of safeguarding by restricting what applications users can access.
What was the Solution?
EE M2M single network carrier SIMs were selected as a low-cost option and for reliable coverage. 5GB data pools are in place to ensure no wastage. The housing association has direct access to Mobile Manager – Jola’s white-label, real-time management portal. This enabled them to monitor their data usage and check it is inline with budgets.
The Jola partner supplied tablets with Mobile Device Management to meet the safeguarding requirements of the local authority, restricting device applications available to the end user.
Feedback
Jola worked in conjunction with the partner to successfully deploy this project and supply the local authority with a low-cost solution that met their safeguarding needs. Mobile Manager supported the local authority in monitoring data usage, while data pools ensured connectivity was used efficiently and costs were reduced.
