Aggregated multi-network SIMs keep 300+ pharmacy sites trading through outages.

A national pharmacy group needed a reliable backup connectivity solution to ensure its stores could continue operating whenever primary internet connections failed. Maintaining access to payment systems, patient records, and ordering platforms was essential to delivering uninterrupted patient care and day-to-day operations.

The Challenge

Frequent outages affecting primary connectivity created significant operational challenges across multiple pharmacy locations. When sites lost connectivity, orders were processed manually, increasing administrative time and risk of error.

The Jola Solution

To improve resilience, an aggregated multi-network SIM solution was deployed across 50 sites. By providing access to multiple mobile networks and sharing data across all sites, the solution ensured that connectivity remained available even when individual locations or networks experienced issues, while also reducing overall connectivity costs compared to maintaining separate backup lines per site.

The customer was given access to Mobile Manager, Jola’s SIM management portal, to activate SIMs and monitor and manage their SIM estate.

Automated daily connectivity checks were also introduced, giving the customer confidence that backup connections were active and ready to support the business whenever required.

The Results

The solution proved both reliable and highly scalable. What began as a deployment across 50 pharmacy sites has since expanded to more than 300 locations, providing consistent backup connectivity and reducing operational disruption.

The approach has proved so effective that it is now being replicated in other retail environments, demonstrating its value well beyond the original pharmacy deployment.
